What does it cost for exam proctoring?

If you take your exam at the Las Cruces campus location, exam proctoring is free. If we are facilitating your proctored exam at another location or through ProctorU, then the fees charged at the offsite location or charged by ProctorU apply and are your responsibility.

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring two forms of ID, with one of them being a picture ID (driver’s license, NMSU ID card, state issued ID card, etc.).
The exam proctor will email you additional information about what you’re allowed to bring based on the information provided by the course instructor.

Is there a limit on the number of proctored exams?

At the Las Cruces campus location and ProctorU,  you can take as many proctored exams as required by your instructor(s) per semester. For the Las Cruces campus location they are still free. For offsite proctoring at other locations, there might a limit on the number of proctored exams. For offsite locations and ProctorU, the cost for taking proctored exams are based on the proctoring service provider schedule of costs.

Do I have to take my proctored exams on the Las Cruces campus?

No, you can take your proctored exam at an approved offsite location or with ProctorU, if allowed by your instructor. All fees are your responsibility.

Can I take my proctored online exam with ProctorU?

You can have your online exam proctored by ProctorU, if your instructor allows it and you schedule and pay for the service.

Where is the exam proctoring office located?

Exam proctoring on the Las Cruces campus is located in Milton Hall, Room 185. Milton Hall is located north of Zuhl Library and west of Corbett Center.
Enter the main lobby of Milton Hall and enter the hallway on your left. The Office of Distance Education is the first door on your left.

What are the driving directions to Milton Hall?

Off of I-25 take Exit 1 for  University Avenue, go west on East University Avenue. Turn left at Jordan Avenue at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore. Jordan dead ends in metered parking Lot 17N  in front of Milton Hall. If you printed out an E-Permit, you can park in Lot 16 on your right after you pass the Barnes & Nobles Bookstore. It’s a short walk to Milton Hall.

Off of I-10 take Exit 142 to NMSU. Turn right going east on to East University Avenue. Turn right on Jordan Avenue at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore. Jordan dead ends in metered parking Lot 17N in front of Milton Hall. If you printed out an E-Permit, you can park in Lot 16 on your right after you pass the Barnes & Nobles Bookstore. It’s a short walk to Milton Hall.

What about parking for exam proctoring on the Las Cruces campus?

If you don’t have a current NMSU parking permit, you can park in a free parking lot, a metered parking lot, or print an E-Permit. You can pay and use the metered parking in the Lot 17N between Milton Hall and Corbett Center off of Jordan Avenue. You’ll need to bring change for the parking meter.

Can I cancel or reschedule a proctored exam?

Do I need to bring my laptop?

At the Las Cruces exam proctoring location, if it is a computer-based exam, a laptop or computer will be provided. For offsite exam proctoring, you’ll have to check with the proctoring service.
